You're planning a vacation with the dog in a Gargano? Here are some tips to optimize your stay and make the most of this land rich in sun, sea and nature with your animal friends.
Our itinerary starts north from Rhodes Garganico, a seafaring town perched on a cliff that directly overlooks the sea and offers various pet-friendly accommodation facilities. The sea in front of Rodi Garganico has a shallow water therefore it is ideal for those traveling with animals and for those who are not excessively familiar with swimming.
From the port of Rodi Garganico you can reach the Tremiti Islands el 'San Domino Island, the largest, where dogs are welcome, thanks to the ever-increasing attention paid to them! You don't need a car here because the distances are quite short and you can get around very well on foot. The more "comfortable" ones can still rent a scooter or a bicycle so, if your dog's size allows it, you can transport it inside the basket!
Returning to the mainland the tour continues for Peschici, a pretty village with white houses perched on a sheer cliff and narrow alleys that lead down to the sea, where you can find a wide range of campsites, hotels and tourist villages designed to accommodate four-legged friends.
Continuing south we meet Vieste, the pearl of the Gargano, the most popular location in the summer, as well as the point of reference for holidays with pets also thanks to a specific territorial project aimed at encouraging the attitude of tourist operators to increasingly open up to the pet friendly sector. With your dog you can relax while walking along the long and panoramic promenade which from the center of the town reaches the port. On the seafront you can also admire the Pizzomunno, the enormous limestone monolith that is the symbol of the city.
