What do you think of a relaxing stay among cities of art, nature and good food in the company of your four-legged friend?
Our proposal, particularly suitable for autumn weekend, concerns the area that develops between Urbino, Candelara and Gradara.
Let's start with Urbino, proclaimed city UNESCO heritage which was the birthplace of Raphael and is a symbol of the Italian Renaissance. The historic center will amaze you with its order and imposing beauty; everything develops starting from Piazza della Repubblica, the true hub of the town. From here you can walk along the steep streets that will also take you to Ducal Palace, home of the National Gallery of the Marche (however, your dog will not be allowed to enter here), and finally to the Albornoz Fortress where, however, Fido will also be able to enjoy the splendid panorama that opens onto the valley below. Before leaving, refresh yourself with a tasty puff pastry crescia. If you are tired of walking or simply want to see the city from a different perspective you can opt for a ride aboard the Urbino Explorer train where even dogs can safely get on!
After finishing the visit of Urbino your next stop will be Candelara, a pretty village that expresses its best in December, on the occasion of the event Candelara candles, that is, when the town is entirely illuminated with candle lights and an evocative Christmas market winds along the streets.
Our tour then arrives at gradara, a decidedly dog-friendly city also thanks to the support of local associations committed to the cause!
The historic center of the town is a true medieval jewel which boasts the Orange Flag recognition of the Italian Touring Club and is included in the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. The hub of the country is the State-owned fortress of Gradara, known above all for the story of the tormented love between Paolo and Francesca. Inside, where you can also bring your small dog in the special carrier, there is the "Teatro dell'Aria", an ornithological park for environmental education dedicated to falconry. Once you have finished visiting the Rock (we recommend an accompanied tour to learn all its secrets) your furry friends will be able to accompany you through the Ronda walkways or at the Historical Museum (here the leash is sufficient). But the walks in Gradara don't end here! In fact, we show you the Lovers' Path, a path along the city walls or the Mount of Lies, which is located in the opposite part of the country. And if you are in Gradara for lunch or dinner you cannot miss out on Bigol, a handmade spaghetti seasoned with mushroom or meat sauce!
