In Liguria in the period of late September and November the Monte Beigua Regional Park it transforms into a color palette consisting of all shades of brown. This park represents the ideal place for walking your dog along chestnut and oak paths. During the visit you can choose whether to delve into the Deiva Forest in Sassello or whether to travel the Archaeological Trail .
In Emilia Romagna we recommend trekking with your dog among the Colli Piacentini, where just after the harvest period the leaves of the trees begin to turn intense red and orange in contrast with the arid soil. A natural beauty that you can't help but photograph.
Another place to mention is undoubtedly there Val Masino in Lombardy, where the Bagni Masino Forest composed of monumental trees over 200 years old awaits you.
In Puglia the best place to enjoy the foliage is in the heart of the Gargano and is called Umbra Forest. Made up of centuries-old beech, oak and maple woods, it is crossed by numerous paths that can be followed by anyone.
In Piedmont, the perfect landscape for photographing foliage is certainly the Langhe. In the area between the provinces of Cuneo and Asti, you can organize walks in the mountain woods and taste the typical wines of the area; alternatively, in the Biella area, we recommend the Botanical Garden of Oropa, WWF Oasis, which will be able to give you color contrasts that will leave you breathless.
In Trentino the Mocheni Valley, 20km from Trento, is the perfect location to enjoy an autumn day in the company of your pet among wild nature and folklore and gastronomic traditions.
In Tuscany the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, among the most colorful forests in Italy, offers the maximum beauty of its foliage between the last two weeks of October and the first two of November. The forests are characterized by the presence of beeches, oaks and hornbeams. The best point to admire the scenic spectacle offered by the foliage is the top of Monte Penna.
In Calabria in Sila National Park with its maples, poplars, beeches and chestnuts, it allows you to experience the phenomenon of foliage even without hiking shoes thanks to the ring route in the Small Sila which starts from Tirivolo and crosses paths full of centuries-old beech trees reaching a panoramic point.
In Valle d'Aosta in the Val Ferret you can find the quiet of nature and the possibility of hiking with your pet photographing the colorful landscape thanks to the leaves full of colours.
The phenomenon of foliage in the Marche can be experienced and photographed in many places, we recommend the Secular beech forest of Canfaito, the youngest nature reserve in the region where it is possible to follow two itineraries: the itinerary of the centuries-old beech forest of Canfaito, where you can meet the oldest beech in the Marche, inserted among the 300 monumental trees in Italy; and the itinerary Beech forest of Monte San Vicino leading up to the top of the mountain.
In Umbria the foliage phenomenon can be observed practically in almost the entire region: from the area of Trasimeno lake ad Assisi up to Sources of Clitunno and Marmore waterfalls. Among the places of interest to admire this phenomenon and breathe in the scent of the woods, we recommend that you take the paths of Mount Cucco and immerse yourself in its luxuriant nature.
